Description

Future University of Washington coach Lynn Nance, second from left, is featured in this undated photo of Plywood Tacoma, a national powerhouse in AAU basketball that eventually won a National Amateur Basketball Association championship in 1973 following the dissolution of the Cheney Studs. Clint Names, far right, was the team’s general manager, coach and an outstanding player for the team that was formed to give local high school and college stars a place to continue playing after their careers had otherwise ended and before professional basketball became a more viable option. Also featured in the photo are Gary Wortman, Steve Anstett, Ted Werner, Jerry Vermillion and Mike Dahl.
