Description

University of Washington’s Dave Williams (#90), shown in a signed photograph catching a football, was an exceptional athlete for the Huskies in the mid-1960s. A 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School, Williams earned 12 letters in football, basketball and track and was the state high hurdles champion his senior year. At Washington, Williams earned letters in track and football and was an All-American in both sports. He was so talented that in 1964 he entered his first-ever decathlon and qualified for the Olympic trials, finishing 12th. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1967’s NFL Draft. He played seven years in the NFL with the Cards, San Diego Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers and with the World Football League’s Southern California Sun. Williams was also the first player signed by the Seattle Seahawks, but was forced into retirement due to a knee injury.
