Norm Mayer, running with the football, was involved in football for a long time, first as a player then as a coach. Mayer became Lincoln High School's head football coach in 1945. Mayer was an all-conference guard for the College of Puget Sound in the late 1930s. In 23 years of coaching at Lincoln, Mayer had a 140-50-6 record. He's one of only 12 high school football coaches in the Pierce County to win 100 or more games. His 1948 team won a state title.Lexicon
