In this black-and-white photo taken in the fall of 1953 in a packed Lincoln Bowl, Luther Carr runs for daylight as he plays running back in a game for Lincoln High School. Carr was a rare four-sport star. In addition to earning all-state and all-city honors in football, Carr was a starter in basketball for the Abes, he was all-league in baseball and he was a state record holder in the long jump. At the University of Washington, Carr earned all-conference honors in football. He scored on a 76-yard touchdown romp on his first carry in a game against a California Bears team that would go on to play in the Rose Bowl.Lexicon
