Freddie Steele, who was nicknamed “The Tacoma Assassin,” was the world middleweight champion from 1936 to 1938. Printed on the photo is “Freddie Steele, world middleweight champion, management of Eddie Miller, Tacoma, Wash.” In the 1940s, Steele went to Hollywood and was in numerous movies. He was inducted into both the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame. In 1936, Steele defeated Babe Risko with a unanimous 15-round decision in Seattle to win the world middleweight title. Steele lost only two of his fights in his first 10 years boxing and finished with 125 wins, five losses and 11 draws.Lexicon
