Tacoma native KC Boutiette takes a lap during training for long track speedskating.
Boutiette, who started as an inline speed skater, made the 1994 Winter Olympic team in long track speedskating (finishing 39th in the men's 1,500 meters) and finishing first in the 500 and 10,000 meters at the Olympic Trials.
He went on to compete in the 1998 Nagano Olympics (fifth in the 1,500, eighth in the 1,000 and 10,000, 14th in the 5,000), 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics (fifth in the 5,000) and 2006 Turin Olympics (sixth in team pursuit, 19th in 5,000).
He won two silver medals at the world allarounds (1997 in the 1,500 meters, 1998 in the 500 meters) and won the gold medal in the 5,000 meters at the 2003 U.S. long track championships.Lexicon
