Description

Jim Rediske, left, and Ray Brammer, right, pose in their baseball uniforms. Rediske, a Roy, Washington, native, was known for his phenomenal fielding and glove work at shortstop and in centerfield, not to mention is work at the plate. Rediske played for the 1948 Pacific Lutheran College’s Washington Intercollegiate Conference Championship team. His talent for the game came early and scouts took notice. Rediske was pursued by the St. Louis Cardinals at the age of 16, right out of high school, but his parents wouldn’t let him sign the consent form. After Pacific Lutheran, he went on to play in the City League with South Tacoma, and Woodworth Contractors among others. Brammer played with Rediske at Roy High School before joining Spanaway in the Valley League for nine seasons. Brammer went on to coach with Spanaway in the City League and played with the Madigan Army Hospital in the City and Pierce County Leagues.Rediske and Brammer were inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Baseball-Softball Old-timers Hall of Fame.
