Description

UPS football and basketball coach John Heinrick (left), UW football coach Jim Owens, Seattle University basketball coach Vince Cazzetta and PLU coach/athletic director Mark Salzman chat at the podium during a Tacoma Athletic Commission scholarship dinner in the 1960s. Heinrick, an NAIA Hall of Famer, won five conference titles as the UPS football coach and twice led the Loggers to the NAIA Tournament. Owens coached UW to three Rose Bowls and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Cazzetta left Seattle U. in 1963 and later coached the Pittsburgh Pipers of the ABA. Salzman coached track, football and basketball and served as athletic director during his 17 years at PLU.
