An unidentified man sits on a small hydroplane with the boat's name “Miss Tacoma R125” painted on the bow. When this black-and-white photo was taken is also uncertain and guessed to be in the 1920s to the 1940s. Auston Snell owned the first Tacoma built hydroplane and from 1957 to 1963 he gave his city something to cheer about. Snell, driving “Miss Rocket” and then “Coral Reef,” placed second in the 1958 Gold Cup, which was the annual Seafair race in Seattle.
