Description

Members of the Tacoma Elks men’s softball team pose along the fence line after placing second in the state championships in 1948. Already winners of the Tacoma City League title, the Elks had several outstanding local athletes on the team including Joey Johns, Vern From and more. Both Johns and From were inducted into the Washington State Sports Hall of Fame in 2005, Johns for hockey and softball and From for softball. The Elks organization sponsored many youth and amateur sports teams from baseball and basketball to hockey and handball.
