Description

Vince Hanson was a three sport star at Washington State after he graduated from Tacoma’s Lincoln High School in 1942. He wore jersey #11 at WSU. A 6-foot, 10-inch center, he set a national single season record in 1944-45 when he scored 592 points for the Cougars, who won the Pacific Coast Conference championship. He was a consensus second-team All-American and finished his career with 1,153 points. He twice lettered in both baseball as a first baseman and in track and field as a high jumper. After his senior year of basketball he was drafted by the Baltimore Bullets of the fledgling NBA. He never played for the Bullets, instead joining the Goodyear Wingfoots of Akron, Ohio, at a time when AAU basketball enjoyed wide popularity. Photo courtesy of Hutchinson Photo Service.
