Siblings Judianne and Jerry Fotheringill quickly gained prominence after starting skating lessons with coach Patsy Hamm and finished second at their first Northwest regional pairs ice skating competition. The pair went on to win their first U.S. Junior Pairs championship in 1959, placing fourth. Two years later they must missed making the World team at the senior level and contemplated retirement. But the Fotheringill’s persevered and won national titles in 1963 and 1964 and represented the US at the 1964 Olympic Games. Jerry and Judianne were inducted into the Tacoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. Pictured are Jerry and Julianne holding their second-place trophy from the 1959 National Junior Pairs Championships.
