Description

John Johnsen provides instruction to skaters at Lakewood Ice Arena. Johnsen was one of the longest tenured instructors at Lakewood, teaching from 1939-41 and 1948-68. Pat Hoyt, Dick Rasmussen, Patty Greenup and John Kinney were some Johnsen’s protege’s in the first few years of his tenure and then taught Patsy Hamm, Jack Boyle, Sally Price, Diane Jacobsen, Nancy Roberts and Joan Winters upon his return. In between teaching at Lakewood, Johnsen became a counter-intelligence agent for the United States in Denmark and other Northern European countries during World War II.
