John Johnson and Dora Mae Coy skate in a performance at the Lakewood Ice Arena as other skaters watch. The arena was the place to be for Tacoma residents. It quickly became an entertainment hub when it opened in 1938. The rink continued to provide skating lessons, was a popular hangout spot for teenagers, offered skating parties and hosted the Ice Follies and Ice Capades until part of the building collapsed in 1982 and the rest was demolished shortly thereafter.
