Skaters perform in Russian peasant costumes at the Lakewood Ice Arena. The rink hosted numerous shows and was the entertainment hub for Tacoma residents. The rink continued to provide skating lessons, was a popular hangout spot for teenagers, offered skating parties and hosted the Ice Follies and Ice Capades until part of the building collapsed in 1982 and the rest was demolished shortly thereafter.
