The Oakes Water Stadium and ballroom was the precursor to the Lakewood Ice Arena. The ballroom on the shores of Lake Steilacoom was purchased by Norton Clapp in 1936. Two years later the arena was opened to the public and became the home of the Lakewood Figure Skating Club. Photo by Boland (B13269).
