A black and white photo of the marquee at the Hotel Adolphus, Dallas, Texas, showcasing “Dot Franey’s Ice Show” with Pat Green, Tommy Cunningham and His Orchestra. Franey was an American speed skater who competed in the 1932 and 1936 Winter Olympics. At one point during her career, Franey held 12 of the 14 possible world speed skating records. At the Lake Placid Winter Games, Franey earned the bronze medal in the 1,000-meters. She also won national titles from 1933-36. In 1938, Franey crossed over to become a professional figure skater and stated her own show and starred on Broadway “The Dot Franey Ice Revue.” It was such a sensation the Adolphus Hotel held her show for 14 years.Lexicon
