Description

Pat Firth, pictured skating circa 1955 in a photo by Stuart B. Hertz, Seattle, won the Pacific Coast Senior Ladies in 1952 and moved up a spot to second in Junior Ladies at nationals. She repeated as Pacific Coast champion in 1953 and then won the national Junior Ladies title, earning a spot on Team USA’s world team, placing seventh at the world championships in 1955 in Vienna, Austria. Firth was especially qualified at figures — which amounted to 60 percent of the overall score. She went on to earn her United States and Canadian Golf Test medals in figures and freestyle. Firth also earned a master’s rating as a skating teacher and coach. She was inducted into the Tacoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
