Description

Howard Olson, pictured displaying his USGA Sportsmanship award, was a successful athlete garnering junior golf titles including the A.S. Kerry Amateur Public Links Sportsmanship award presented by the USGA. The public links, sometimes referred to as the Publinx, is one of 10 men’s amateur golf tournaments held by the United States Golf Association and began in 1922 with 15- entries at the Ottawa Park Course in Toledo, Ohio. The Publinx has also been a springboard for many golfers, including British Open champion Tony Lema, PGA champions Dave Mara and Bobby Nichols and Masters champions George Archer among others.
