Aerial view of Tiger Park located at S. 38th and Warner. The stadium was built for the Tacoma Tigers of the Western International League where the team played at the park for six years from 1946-1951. Owner Enoch Alexson spent an estimated $150,000 in building the park. The first year saw nineteen year old catcher Dick Kemper star for the Tigers where he finished second in league with a .355 batting average and drove in 106 RBIs. Tiger Park would later be purchased by Benjamin Bradford Cheney where the legendary business man built Tacoma landmark Cheney Stadium in 1960 in which he paid $870,000 out of his own pocket and had the new stadium built within three months. The new ballpark became the home of the San Francisco Giants’ minor league affiliate.Made/Created
