Description

Stan Naccarato, a member of the Tacoma-Pierce County Old-Timers Baseball-Softball Association Hall of Fame and the Washington State Sports Hall of Fame, was an outstanding pitcher and baseball player during his time. Naccarato was named Mr. Baseball on numerous occasions and was a star pitcher at Clover Park High School where he lost just once. Naccarato signed out of high school to play for Cincinnati and pitched in the Pioneer League for the Ogden Reds, going 33-10 before an arm injury ended his professional career. With his playing days behind him, Naccarato went on to become one of Tacoma’s most influential citizens and sports boosters. He was twice named the Tacoma Athletic Commission board president, a ring announcer for the Golden Gloves boxing tournament for more than 50 years and was a driving force behind the dream of the Tacoma Dome.
