Description

In downtown Tacoma and with a large crowd watching, a young Harry “Sonny” Johns Jr. pulls back his bow and aims at the target as he puts on an exhibition in the 1930s. Crowds watch from the sidelines as Johns demonstrates archery. Johns was a good one to watch. In 1938, he won the National Archery Association's Junior Championship in San Francisco for his age group and he was the state's junior champion from 1937-1940. This photo was taken by Turner Richards.
