Description

Sprint car driver Ed Guth is seen driving a midget racer in 1955 in this black and white photograph donated by Bill Seidelman. Guth drove for owners like Mike Hoskins and Seidelman. Seidelman worked as a mechanic but found his love in racing, a passion he inherited from his father who built midget cars. By the age of 16, Seidelman went to work for Leo Dobry and his City of Tacoma car in 1948. He owned Seidelman’s Racing Enterprises, which designed, restored and fabricated custom racing midget cars. In 1956 he won the Washington Three-Quarter Midget Association Championship. In 1962 Seidelman was the car owner for the winning Washington Racing Association’s Sprint Car Championship with Bob Grigg as the driver. Seidelman was a longtime member of the Western Racing Association, Washington Midget Racing Association, United States Auto Club, West Coast Vintage Racers and was a Hall of Fame member of the Golden Wheels, a vintage racing fraternity.
