Mel McGoy stands by the car he drove and that was owned by Leo Dobry, who was born in 1902 and was a Russian immigrant. Dobry was a successful sprint car owner in Tacoma before World War II and his cars were well known throughout the West Coast racing circles. Dobry fulfilled a dream when one of his cars qualified and entered the 1948 Indianapolis 500. His car finished sixth in that race, making him a credible Indy car owner.Lexicon
