Dobry, who was born in Russia in 1902, was a successful sprint car owner prior to World War II. His race cars were well known at race tracks on the West Coast. In 1948, Dobry had a dream come true when one of this cars entered the Indianapolis 500. After qualifying for the 14th position, Dobry's car, the City of Tacoma Special, placed sixth in the Indianapolis 500.Lexicon
