Description

Sharply dressed as they skied at Mount Rainier in 1957, Dan Gilsdorf and Joe LaPorte talk at the base of a slope. The men were Tacoma Ski School instructors. The national park service eventually removed rope tow lifts from Paradise. In 1962, Crystal Mountain opened just outside the park. Tacoma Ski School continued into the 1970s and taught thousands of people how to ski.
