Description

Don Moseid, center, standing over trophy is all smiles after winning his first Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges title with Tacoma Community College as his Titans defeated Walla Walla Community College in the first championship game of the renamed league in 1971. The win was especially satisfying after Moseid’s Titans had lost the Washington Athletic Association of Community Colleges title game two years earlier to Green River Community College. Moseid won at every level — a Stadium High School and UPS star before coaching Mount Tahoma to an undefeated season in 1965 — and had the Titans playing at a dominant level for much of his time at the school. Guards Tom Patnode and Don Martonik were the team’s leaders, the latter having originally been coached by Moseid as a high school player at Mount Tahoma. Moseid and both of his championship squads — this one and 1974 — were inducted into TCC first athletics Hall of Fame class in 2007.
