Marjorie Jeffries Shanaman posing during her swing while out on the golf course. Shanaman played up to a 2-handicap by the time she was 18 years old in 1925, and participated in the first Tacoma City Women’s Amateur where she was a medalist after reaching the qualifying round. Shanaman defeated Mrs. Guy Riegel, the 1926 PNGA champion, 1 up in the quarterfinals and Elizabeth Curran, the 1919 PNGA champion, 8 and 7 in the 36-hole finals. Shanaman defeated Reigel, again 1 up, to win the State Women’s Championship in 1928.Lexicon
