Zapp hit what is believed to be the longest home run hit during a Cheney Stadium game on Sept. 1, 2004 off Joe Blanton of the Sacramento River Cats.
The home run, which traveled an estimated 505 feet, cleared the center field wall, which was 29 feet high and 425 feet from home plate and landed in the Cheney Stadium parking lot.
Zapp hit a career high 29 home runs that season, finishing with a .291 batting average and 101 RBIs for the Rainiers.
The blast was off Sacramento’s Joe Blanton, who went on to win 16 games for the Oakland A’s in 2006.
Zapp, who played 936 games in the minor leagues for the Braves, Mariners, Reds and Dodgers organizations from 1996-2006, was the No. 27 overall pick by the Atlanta Braves in 1996 out of Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind.
