Description

Tennis player John DuPriest, posed in this black and white photograph wearing a white shirt and shorts, won the 1947 Pacific Northwest singles tennis championship held in Tacoma. The Troy, New York native was a University of Oregon graduate but also played at the University of Puget Sound and won the Evergreen conference championship. Before college, DuPriest was a top-ranked youth player. DuPriest was a top 10-ranked tennis standout in the 15 and under division in the late 1940s while attending Stadium High School Off the court, DuPriest was a desk clerk at the YMCA and retired in 1970.
