Description

Here is a team shot of 14 young boys and their coach who got the chance to play baseball during the spring because of the Tacoma Boys Club. In 1940, the Tacoma Boys Club began a rich history when the club was formed and met on 25th and Yakima Street. The club was started by Judge Fred Remann and the club was started in an area with a high rate of juvenile delinquency. His goal was to help provide sports to keep young kids occupied and out of trouble. The Salvation Army provided the Club with a yearly budget and eventually they separated from Salvation Army. In 1990 the Boys Club of America changed its name to Boys & Girls Club of America.
