In what's become an annual event because of the Tacoma Boys Club, these 11 boys poise for a black-and-white team photo with their baseball team taken back in the 1950s. Today, the Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound has over 1,300 kids total participate each day at 14 sites across Pierce, Mason and Kitsap Counties. The Boys Club of America started in the United States during the Civil War in the 1860s. The Club opened in Tacoma in 1940 and started to give youths a chance to play sports.Lexicon
