Description

Donna Dennis, wearing a red uniform in a photo of a lower body portrait, races in a sprint event. Dennis, 1982 Clover Park High School graduate, was one of the greatest female sprinters to come out of Washington state. In high school, Dennis won the Washington state track and field championship in the 100, 200 and anchored Clover Park’s winning 4x100 relay to a state record, setting state record along the way at that time. During her senior year of high school, Dennis won the U.S. Junior Track & Field Championship in the 100 and 200 meter races. She went on to win the same events at the Pan American Junior Games in Venezuela. Dennis went on to compete for the University of Washington where she was a three-time NorPac champion in the sprints, and an NCAA finalist in both events. Dennis competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1984 and qualified as an alternate in the 200 in Los Angeles. Dennis entered the Washington State Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
