Description

George Henley skims across the water driving hi 7-liter hydroplane in the late 1960s. Henley, driving his famous PayNPak hydroplane, capped an impressive 20-year racing career by winning national championships in 1974 and 1975. Henley began racing boats in 1955 and in 1970 he moved up to the unlimited racing, driving first the Burien Lady for for two years, then Lincoln Thrift for two years and then PayNPak for another two years, capping his successful career. In 1974 and 1975, Henley won back-to-back national championships. After a brief retirement following the 1974 season, Henley came overcame a late start and won the third race of the 1975 season and he went on to win five of the final seven races of the year, earning him a national unlimited championship.
