Jerry Geehan, bottom row, second from left, is featured in this undated photo of the Lacey Dairy basketball team, one of many successful semi-professional community teams of the era. Geehan likely played for Lacey Dairy following his graduation from Lincoln High School in 1930, after which he set out on a career that would see him be one of the area’s foremost broadcasters and in which he helped launch the careers of several other area legends, including Clay Huntington, Rod Belcher, Doug McArthur, Bob Robertson, Don Hill, Art Popham and Bill O'Meara. After attending the College of Puget Sound for two years, Geehan began his career at KVI and would later become the first broadcaster for the Tacoma Tigers of the Western International League. Geehan would later become owner and general manager of the venerable Tacoma station KTAC from 1952-69 and was Chairman of the Board of the Washington State Association of Broadcasters. Jerry and Delores Geehan were married 62 years and had one daughter, Victoria Loney Shilley.Lexicon
