Description

Leading forward to reduce wind resistance, David Krussow gets set for the start of his race at the 1966 National Soap Box Derby championship in Akron, Ohio. Krussow got the fast start he wanted and ended up winning the national title. It was the second time a national qualifier from Tacoma won the title. Greg Shoemacher of Tacoma won in 1964. Race organizers banned the use of windshields in an effort to increase drag and safety, resulting in the drivers sinking down in their cars.
