Tacoma's David Krussow cruises to a win in the preliminaries of the 1966 National Soap Box Derby. A 12-year-old Krussow went on to win a national championship. The Soap Box Derby's heyday was in the 1950s and 1960s when thousands of racers would compete across the country in local qualifiers for nationals. Krussow won the soap box derby race in Tacoma to qualify for nationals.Lexicon
