Description

David Krussow receives a handshake and a trophy from a race official after winning the 29th annual National Soap Box Derby in 1966. Using his homemade derby car, Krussow became the second competitor from Tacoma in three national races to win the championship race. Gregory Schmacher won it in 1964. In 1967, Stanley Ranum of Aberdeen, Wash., kept that Washington streak going as he placed third at nationals. When Krussow wasn't racing, he played football and baseball as a kid growing up.
