Description

Jack Scott was a gem on the diamond of masters slowpitch softball. Scott, a Seattle native, grew to love baseball as a young man, graduating from Ballard High School in 1952 and earning All-City honors as a shortstop before playing third base at the University of Washington. Scott went on to teach and coach in the Seattle School District and Pierce College. He coached basketball at Garfield High School and then Pierce College men’s basketball and men’s tennis. Scott and his wife raised eight sons so it was years later when he was able to start playing softball. Scott resumed in 1997 when he joined the Sea-Tac Giants in the 60+ division. He also played for the Emerald City Masters 65 team, winning 18 national tournaments and 20 other tournaments. Scott was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Old-Timers Baseball-Softball Association Hall of Fame. Photo donated by Marc Blau.
