Description

St. Leo was founded in 1879 by a missionary priest and is on 710 South 13th Street in Tacoma today. In 1891, the church founded St. Joseph's Hospital, a popular hospital today. In 1926, two brothers, David and John MacAstrocker, built Bellarmine Prep on today's present campus. In 1975, St. Leo High School merged with Aquinas and Bellarmine as a co-ed school at Bellarmine. The grade school remained open until 1976. In the 1950s, St. Leo had a growing enrollment for its high school and grade school.
