After Tacoma's Leo Randolph rose to national acclaim by winning a gold medal in the 1976 Olympics, he went on to win a world super bantamweight title in 1980 as a professional boxer. Randolph was trained as an amateur and then as a professional by Joe Clough, who was the head trainer at the Tacoma Boys Club. As a pro, Randolph lost only twice in 19 fights and won nine of his bouts by a knockout. In 1980, Randolph defeated Ricardo Cardona by a TKO in the 15th round for the WBA super bantamweight title.Lexicon
