Description

Andy Carrigan went to a small high school, but there was nothing small-time about his talent to play football. After helping Orting High School to be ranked second in state in football in 1962, Carrigan went on to star at Stanford. In 1967, he set a school record at Stanford and a conference record with 27 tackles in a game against Washington in Husky Stadium. In a four-game stretch, he had 72 tackles. Carrigan, who was a teammate of Heisman trophy winner Jim Plunkett, was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. With his football days behind him, Carrigan got into racing hydroplanes.
