Description

A Spanaway baseball team from the late 1940s or early 1950s poses for a black-and-white photo. Included in this classic photo are some talented players that include Elmer Theil, Chuck Loete, Jim Reddke, Paul Reiman, Howard Davis and Dick Buck. Rediske, Bratlie and Loete were an impressive trio as they were all-stars in high school, college and starred in the Valley League and the Tacoma City League. Rediske was a smooth shortstop who could hit in the clutch. Bratlie was an all-star second baseman who starred with Rediske and Loete at Pacific Lutheran College. Loete was a sure-handed fielder at first base and hit with power at the plate. Photo was donated by Marc Blau.
