Description

Ron Staples looks to his third base coach for signals as he prepares to hit in a baseball game. As a teenager, Staples played baseball at Clover Park High School and led his team in hitting and at Clark College he was the second on the team in hitting. In 1968, he joined Billings Electric baseball team and after winning the city league championship lost in the finals of the state tournament to the Cheney Studs. Staples then played third base for the Tacoma Senators in senior baseball competition in the early 1990s. Staples then played for the Puget Sound White Sox from 1996 to 1999 and batted .500, .640 and .600.
