Description

Here is a black-and-white photo of the Detroit Pistons taken back in the 1950s. During the early 1950s, the Fort Wayne Pistons reached the NBA finals twice but didn't win a championship. Unable to survive in a small market, the Pistons moved to Detroit in 1957 and kept the Pistons name because it matched the city's car industry identity. Detroit hadn't seen pro basketball in a decade after they lost the Detroit Eagles during World War II.
