Description

By 1927 St. Leo’s Jesuit Parish was a thriving school at all levels of primary and secondary education, but bigger things were afoot, as Bellarmine Preparatory School was about to open as a boys school with 150 students, 18 of whom would get diplomas in the school’s first graduation ceremony in 1929. The first major fund drive to pay for school was boosted by volunteers from Holy Names Society, Philomathea, Knights of Columbus, and St. Leo's Alumni Association, which was instrumental in establishing the school. In 1975 St. Leo High School merged with Aquinas and Bellarmine as a co-ed school at Bellarmine. The grade school remained open until 1976.
