After playing in the East-West Shrine Game and the Coaches All-American Game his senior year as a running back at the University of Washington, Ron Medved was picked in the 14th round of the NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Medved was switched to defensive back by the Eagles and played defensive back and linebacker for them from 1966-70. Medved graduated from Tacoma's Bellarmine Prep in 1962 and was an all-city selection in football.
