The Tacoma Stars were a professional major indoor soccer team that was in operation from 1983-1992 at the Tacoma Dome. The Stars became well known for their fan support. The team holds the record for highest attendance of an indoor soccer game when 21,728 fans came out to the Tacoma Dome for Game 7 of the MISL Championship during the 1986-87 season against the Dallas Sidekicks. Tacoma lost to Dallas 4-3 in overtime. Tacoma also became the only team to defeat perennial champion San Diego Sockers in a playoff series.
