Pat McMurtry takes a left jab to the stomach and prepares to counter with a combination of a left hook and right cross against an unidentified opponent. Tacoma's Davy Ward was the referee in this fight back in 1954. After a successful amateur career when McMurtry won 103 of his 105 fights, he turned pro in 1954. And when he turned pro, his father, Clarence, became his manager. It was a fitting decision. Clarence was the reason Pat got into boxing. When Clarence got married, he told his wife they were going to have two sons and they were both going to box. Both wishes came true.Lexicon
