Description

Pat McMurtry rests in between rounds during a professal heavyweight fight in 1954. McMurtry's corner man, Franke “Chi Chi” Britt, stands in McMurtry's corner waiting for the bell to ring to start the next round. Britt was a well-known featherweight and later lightweight during the 1920s and would contend for the Pacific Coast title. On Dec. 21, 1921, he fought Mike Ballerino to a draw in what was Ballerino's first pro fight. Ballerino went on to be an world junior light weight title in 1925. McMurtry turned pro in 1954 after a long successful amateur career when he went 103-2.
